Sherman Hamilton

Director of Youth in Sports & Entertainment Mentorship

Sherman Hamilton was born in Jane and Finch and Raised in Malton On. Sherman attended Westwood Secondary School (now named Lincoln Alexander).

At an early age, Sherman knew what he wanted in life, so he took his education and basketball career very serious. All throughout his high school years, Sherman fell in love with basketball and began to accumulate MVP and all-star awards.

Sherman quickly cemented his name in history as one of the best basketball players of his time playing in countless tournaments and leagues like the OBA, which eventually earned him a scholarship to Florida Institute of Technology.

Throughout his NCAA career, Sherm continued to work hard earning the respect of his American basketball counterparts by winning titles such as freshman of the year and second team all Sunshine State conference honors. After his transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University, he helped lead the team to a NCAA berth in 1996 and then was drafted to the CBA out of Virginia Commonwealth University.

At this point in Sherman’s career he decided to play nine seasons with the Canadian Men’s National Team and participate in the Pan Am Games in1999 and the Sydney Olympics in 2000, where he helped the team win two World Championships.

Sherman later went on to have an illustrious career by playing four seasons professionally overseas in Finland, Argentina, Germany and Lithuania.

At the tale end of his playing career, Sherman transitioned into his broadcasting in 2003 to present day. In between that he managed to land an assistant coaching position for two seasons with the National team‎ in 2005 & 2006.

Currently, Sherman works as a pre and post game analyst for NBA TV Canada, TSN & Sportsnet, which also includes colour analysis for TSN Radio 1050.

With all that Sherman has accomplished, there is nothing more important to him than being a family man and mentor for the youth in his community.

When asked, Sherman jumped at the idea of being apart of The Harris Brand Foundation, knowing he’ll have the ability to give back to as many youth as possible.

Sherman is focused and dedicated to using his platform to influence the sports community through his knowledge and network.

Sherman looks forward to his youth mentorship and sports educational role as a board member of The Harris Brand Foundation.
